History
Life Fellowship began when eight adults and three children moved to Allen, Texas in 2002 to launch this new church. Our first service was March 31, 2002 at 203 S. Cedar. A little over thirty people attended that first service. Most of whom, were out of town friends and family. One local family and a single young lady visited that Sunday and miraculously chose to come back the next week. They were our first Allen residents outside of the plant team to become a part of the church.
We purchased and moved to our current location at 600 S. Jupiter in August of 2003. This location has been in a constant state of remodeling and expansion ever since. In February 2006 we finished a 3600 square foot addition dedicated to our youth and children’s ministries. We have been blessed with consistent numerical growth since our inception. There are now well over two hundred people who call Life Fellowship their church home.
Philosophy
We believe that God created man in His image and entrusted him with the care of this earth. Humanity chose to enter into rebellion against God and as result experienced a corruption of our original design. As a part of this corruption relationship with our creator God was broken. However, God loved us so passionately that since that point in human history He has sought to restore humanity. Our creator God revealed himself through His Son Jesus Christ for the purpose of paying the price for our rebellion. Jesus willingly allowed himself to be killed on a cross so that we could be restored to our original position in God’s Kingdom. Upon the acceptance of Christ's sacrifice and His Lordship in one’s life a person is given access into the Kingdom of God.
At our current point in history we find ourselves experiencing the Kingdom in a present / future sense. The Holy Spirit, the third person in the triune Godhead, is given to the follower of Christ upon entrance into the Kingdom to lead, guide, and empower the believer to live Kingdom life and perform Kingdom service in the here and now. The Holy Spirit is also given to the follower of Christ as a seal of our future inheritance of the fullness of the Kingdom of God. This future inheritance is commonly referred to as the point in time when our creator God restores all things and sets up a new heaven and a new earth. Therefore we believe that Christianity is not simply concerned with our future as a destination, but is a fully integrated life system moving us towards our eternal destiny as God’s image bearer’s in His restored Kingdom.
We believe that God is so concerned with restoring us that He not only paid the price for our restoration and sent his Spirit to guide and empower us, but that He has actively spoken to humanity through human history and continues to do so today. The first example of this is the Bible. We affirm the historical opinion of the Church and accept it as God’s word to us containing His revealed message to all of humanity. The scripture also indicates that God speaks to His people through personal revelation and spiritual gifts. We encourage all people to seek a personal relationship with their creator and to develop the discipline of hearing His voice.
Purpose
Life Fellowship is a missional community that is "Growing Faith Where Life Happens" through intentional demonstrations of God's love and engaing people at there point of need.
Atmosphere
We are committed to creating an atmosphere where a person is comfortable exploring the claims of Christ and encountering the presence of God. We believe transformation is the result of exploration and encounter. While our worship style is progressive and emotionally engaging, we encourage people to find an expression that reflects their heart towards our creator. Jesus declared we would be known as His disciples because we loved one another. Our chief aim is to be a community love. According to Christ, loving relationships are the litmus test for authentic Christianity. Paul taught that spiritual maturity was measured by ones ability to love rather than giftedness or spiritual intensity. Therefore we chose not to major in minors or impose individual preferences on people. This means things like dress code or musical style simply are non issues to us. We celebrate our diversity and value each others perspective. We are, after all family.
